Butterworth hosts Penang mini samelan

By Simerjit Kaur and Manpreet Kaur (Penang)

Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia (Penang Branch) had organised our 20th Penang Mini Samelan on Jan 21-23, 2012. This time the samelan was held in Butterworth Gurdwara Sahib for a change. A total of about 100 participants registered for the camp to experience the fun-filled and exciting activities prepared for them.

The theme of the Samelan this time was Darshan Dekh Jeeva Gur Tayra, Pooran Karam Hovay Prabh Mayra. We are very happy to say that by Guruji’s grace, the message was well conveyed by all the coordinators of the samelan through lecture sessions, drama presentations, station games and etc.

Some of the points embedded in the camp were “My way versus Guru’s way” on the first day, “Challenges along the way” on Day Two and “Faith” on the third day.

It was successful and inspiring three days for the participants. All of them went home with enriched with Sikhi knowledge. We hope they are more confident to deal with day-to-day issues. We hope that they are able to apply principles picked up at the camp in their daily lives to overcome daily obstacles and challenges.

Kudos to Sewadars from Butterworth and the Penang Island for their ideas and providing logistic support.
